About the scholarship

The Learning Potential Fund provides support through scholarships and bursaries to students in financial need.

Philanthropist Des Donnachie graduated in 1990 from the Brisbane College of Advanced Education (BCAE), Kedron Park which later became part of QUT. Des has often remarked to QUT staff on his good fortune to have attended BCAE, of his fond memories and how, from then on, there 'was no looking back' in his fortunes.

It is from his memories of his impoverished early life that he made the decision to pass on the fruits of his studies to dedicated students studying information technology at QUT and who, like he was, are experiencing financial difficulties. His hope was to be able to share his good fortune and give future students 'the break' they, like him, need to progress in their chosen career.
