What is Get Uni Ready?
Planning what to do after high school is an important decision. We want to help students feel confident that they are on the right path with all the tools they need for success.
Get Uni Ready is a free Year 11–12 Academic Preparation Program that aims to enhance access and opportunity to QUT for students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education, such as first in family students, student from low income backgrounds as well as rural and remote students.
The program provides immersive and innovative opportunities to help students better develop their academic skills, interests and post-school options. We help get students university ready - if and when they transition into their first year of university, they will have the skills and confidence they need for success.
Benefits to students
During the program, students will:
- Visit QUT four times in Year 11, meeting academics, peers and QUT students. Free transport and catering will be provided for these visits.
- In Year 12, visit QUT a further two times, and receive mentoring for academic support, exam preparation support and careers and pathways advice.
- Explore campus spaces and student life at Kelvin Grove and Gardens Point campuses.
- Access online academic support across all subject areas.
- Be coached regularly in school by active Get Uni Ready student ambassadors.
After successfully completing the program, students will:
- Receive a Get Uni Ready certificate.
- Be supported in accessing various pathway options, including eligibility for QUT’s Year 12 Early Offer Scheme.
On successfully being accepted into QUT, Get Uni Ready Alumni will:
- Receive a bursary to support study at QUT.
- Be offered mentorship from Widening Participation Student Ambassadors during Year 11, Year 12 and their first year of tertiary study.
- Receive targeted careers and learning support during their first and second year of study.
- Be recommended for a paid role as a Widening Participation Student Ambassador once undertaking university study.

At this time, entry into the Get Uni Ready Program is only offered to nominated students within QUT's Widening Participation partner schools, and is not available for general applications.
