Science & Engineering Challenge 2025
Fun and interactive STEM challenges for high school students.
The 2025 Science & Engineering Challenge will be held at QUT Gardens Point Campus from February 11-14.
The annual Science and Engineering Challenge aims to inspire students in years 8, 9 and 10 to consider a future career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). We invite schools to bring between 16 and 32 students to the Challenge on one of the following dates:
- Tuesday, February 11th
- Wednesday, February 12th
- Thursday, February 13th
- Friday, February 14th
Dedicated to inspiring the next generation of STEM enthusiasts, our major corporate sponsor will be BMD. Thanks to their partnership with QUT, to participate in the Science & Engineering Challenge, the costs per school will be $180 (versus $440). This cost includes participation in the challenge (one team of 32 students), lunch for students, and morning tea and lunch for teachers and staff in attendance. This fee is for all schools participating in the Challenge no matter the affiliation with QUT. Through their corporate sponsorship, BMD hopes to encourage increased gender and cultural diversity in your teams. Ensuring representation of young women, young men, First Nations students, and students who may not be strong academically in STEM but have the ability to grow in this space, is focal to BMD’s values of collaboration, empowerment, determination, and striving to do better. We at QUT also strive to increase diversity in STEM courses and unreservedly support this request.
If you have any questions regarding fees for the Challenge, transportation as a widening participation school or coming from a regional area, please us me know. For schools looking to pay for the Science & Engineering Challenge out of their 2024 budget, please let me know. Otherwise, the fee for the Challenge won’t be due until March 14th, 2025.
The Science & Engineering Challenge is a fantastic way for students to showcase their talents, network with peers, and gain invaluable insights into the exciting fields of science and engineering.
