A guide to STEM special days 2024

2024 is set to be a great year for immersing in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Being an 8-year (2+0+2+4) in numerology, this year is about growth and expansion. What better time to expand in this area than by connecting with like-minded people in STEM!

The demand for STEM literacy in future occupations means STEM skills are needed more than ever in the workforce to address these complex issues now and into the future.

Five facts about the STEM workforce in Australia

  1. STEM education develops skills such as problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork, which are required for 91.7% of new jobs over the next five years 1.
  2. STEM graduates have many career opportunities, as they are in high demand across various sectors and industries, and earn 31% more than non-STEM graduates on average 2.
  3. 75% of the fastest-growing occupations require STEM skills 3.
  4. Between 2011 and 2016, the number of people with a university STEM degree grew by 29% 1.
  5. The proportion of women in STEM-qualified jobs was 15% in 2022, up from 10% in 2002 2.
