Mr Andrew Murphy

Biography

Andrew Murphy is an accredited advanced practitioner radiographer with clinical positions at the Queensland Children's Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

He is a Fellow of the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy and the only radiographer in Australia with an advanced practice accreditation in image interpretation.

He completed a Master of Medical Imaging Science specialising in Radiographic Image Interpretation at the University of Sydney and has clinical experience in both paediatric and adult imaging.

Andrew is active within the profession, working closely with the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy on radiographer-led image interpretation in Australian hospitals and artificial intelligence in diagnostic imaging.  He is also an Associate Editor for the Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences.

He has published scientific articles exploring AI in medical imaging, radiographer-led image interpretation and CT image reconstruction. He has spoken nationally and internationally and has been an invited speaker on the topics of radiographic image interpretation and artificial intelligence in radiography.

Andrew is a managing editor for the Radiology website Radiopaedia.org, in 2022 Radiopaedia served 257 million pages to over 41.4 million individuals from every single country on earth.

Through Radiopaedia.org, Andrew creates radiographic image interpretation courses that are accessed by thousands of healthcare professionals around the world.

He is a sessional academic with the School of Clinical Sciences, specifically Medical Radiation Sciences.
