Teaching

Ella has extensive teaching experience, having worked as a Sessional Academic for QUT from 2010-2018, and as a Lecturer at RMIT University from 2018-2024.  She has provided leadership in the areas of academic advice and pastoral care, as well as student belonging and pedagogy, and has led curriculum design and course development, including program overhauls, assessment design, content innovations, new class activities, and training workshops. Ella has been involved in both faculty core and discipline specific units, and has taught a wide range of subjects in media and communication both in Australia and internationally. Her teaching specialisations are in political communication, professional communication, project management, popular culture, and public relations, though she has also taught into other areas including digital media, creative industries, and research methods. Ella is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AdvanceHE) and has won several teaching awards. She is a passionate and conscientious educator, and consistently receives outstanding student feedback and peer evaluation results.
