Biography
BackgroundJulie obtained her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of Queensland, then later a Master of Laws from the same University. She practised as a solicitor in a Brisbane city law firm for approximately two years after completion of the Legal Practice Course. She then joined the staff of the Legal Practice Course to instruct in civil litigation and bankruptcy practice, the areas in which she had been practising as a solicitor. During her time at the Legal Practice Course she has undertaken a further period of practice in a large Brisbane firm in the area of commercial litigation.
Julie has been involved extensively with the development of course materials for the Legal Practice Course, and in developing the Bar Practice Course. She is a co-author of "Solicitors Checklists" and has contributed to the Queensland Annual Law Review by writing the chapter on Civil Procedure. She was a state editor of Australian Current Law. She is one of the principal authors of the Litigation's Toolkit, an on-line annotated version of the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules.
Julie was also a member of the Queensland Law Society journal editorial committee and served on that committee for four years.
