Biography
Doctor Javier Cortes-Ramirez is a medical researcher experienced in data science and epidemiological research in public health and a passionate educator of environmental health. Javier's professional background spans three major medical areas; clinical practice, medical management and epidemiological research, and teaching in health. As a medical professional, he has supported the implementation of national and regional health programs and strategies in Latin America, Indonesia, India, and the Pacific, in consultancy with the World Health Organisation. His research focuses on identifying the association of environmental determinants such as bushfires, and urban and resource developments with morbidity in the general population. Javier is a recipient of the 2023 Mental Health Medical Research Future Fund and he is the chief investigator of an international research collaboration between the World Health Organisation Collaboration Centre for Children’s Health and the University of Santander.Expertise related to UN Sustainable Development Goals
