Biography
Judy Munday is a senior research fellow and clinical nurse researcher focused on keeping patients safe through surgery and preventing perioperative complications. Judy is known for her research on hypothermia—a harmful and preventable complication of surgery—which has translated into the first national nursing clinical guidelines for perioperative hypothermia prevention, and implementation of evidence-based innovations.Judy was recently awarded $1.1million by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) to lead a national trial focused on supporting health services to implement temperature management guidelines, to ultimately improve patient outcomes during and after surgery.
Judy was awarded a 2017 QUT Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award for her thesis which focused on temperature management for women undergoing caesarean delivery. Judy's teaching interests focus on evidence-based practice, both for registered and pre-registration nurses. Judy also works with the University of Agder, Norway and holds an Honorary Research Fellow position at MRI-UQ.
