Ms Leanne Harvey
Administrative Division,
Office of the VP (Admin) & University Registrar
Biography
Ms Leanne Harvey became Vice-President (Administration) and University Registrar at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in December 2018.QUT is a large university primarily located in Queensland with approx 50,000 students and 10,000 staff and Ms Harvey leads the Administrative Services Division at QUT.
The Division is large and supports QUT across 3 major areas;
- Non-academic student services and support (including admissions, graduation, sport, medical services and equity support),
- Corporate services support (including Human Resources, Governance, Health Safety and Environment); and
- Virtual and Physical Infrastructure support for a large organisation with a diverse footprint to support teaching, learning and research.
Prior to joining QUT, Ms Harvey’s career was in the Australian Public Service and saw her involved in social policy initiatives including leading publicly funded research evaluation and research funding to support all research excluding clinical, medical and dental research disciplines as well as reforms into child support and taxation. Changing lives through identifying supports needed via appropriate social policy levers and opportunities is very dear to her heart, as she completed her education in a small regional town in New South Wales and was a first in generation to go to university - strongly encouraged by a high school maths teacher. She graduated at the top of her school and holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting from (the now) Charles Sturt University.
