Dr Michael Collins

Biography
Michael is a Senior Lecturer at QUT Graduate School of Business where he teaches on our MBA, EMBA and Executive Education programs. Prior to joining QUT in 2025, he taught on the MBA, Master of Business Management and Executive Education programs at the University of Queensland Business School.Before joining academia in 2019, Michael established and managed a niche leadership development consultancy working across government and various industries including banking and finance, mining and resources, pharmaceuticals, airlines, railways, professional services and fast-moving consumer goods. Prior to this he held senior leadership roles in Coca Cola and AMP Limited after serving as a commissioned officer in the Australian Army for 15 years.
Michael’s research examines the influence of personality and intelligence on leadership in volatile, uncertain and complex environments. His work has been published in leading academic journals including Psychological Bulletin, The Leadership Quarterly and Personnel Review.
