Biography
Marea's career has extended across a range of pharmacy practice and healthcare settings.She has been an academic at QUT for over 10 years, and completed her PhD in 2020.
Marea enjoys applying her experience and knowledge to help others, especially for teaching undergraduate health students and post-graduate health professionals the principles of Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) to optimise prescribing and improve patient health outcomes.
Marea's passion is for project organisation and people contact, which is a good fit for both research and teaching projects.

Lead, Interprofessional Education (IPE) Programs, School of Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Health.
Since 2011, Marea has led and coordinated multiple programs which focus on IPE and Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) including:
- Coordinator CSB111 - Foundations of Clinical Practice - a first year interprofessional unit for Faculty of Health, spanning across health disciplines of paramedicine, pharmacy, podiatry, medical radiation sciences, nursing/paramedicine.
- Coordinator CSB601 - Introduction to Clinical Therapeutics for Health - an undergraduate interprofessional unit for students including paramedicine, nursing, podiatry.
- Coordinator NSN430 - Clinical Therapeutics for Health - postgraduate online program for registered nurses.
- Coordinator NSN432 - Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) and Safe Prescribing - postgraduate online program for registered nurses.
- Coordinator QUT Allied Health Prescribing Training Program - a collaboration with Allied Health Professions' Office of Queensland (AHPOQ) - select allied health (registered physiotherapists, pharmacists) learn to prescribe in this postgraduate CPD program.
Since 2011, extensive teaching experience in undergraduate, postgraduate, CPD My Community programs administered by School of Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Health. These programs included interprofessional units and School of Nursing programs.
Teaching experience also includes publications and presentations from various QUT Faculty of Health teaching programs.
