Biography
Dr Melanie White is an Associate Professor in the School of Psychology & Counselling. Previous appointments include the University of Southern Queensland and the Centre for Accident Research & Road Safety-Queensland (CARRS-Q). Her teaching areas include psychology units related to behavioural neuroscience, applied cognitive psychology, and psychopharmacology of addictive behaviours. Melanie holds a PhD from QUT in the field of behaviour genetics, where she examined molecular genetic and psychosocial stress interactions on impulsivity in young adults. Melanie’s research program is broadly focused on cognitive function, its development and impairment, and contribution to motivation, behaviour, mental health, and wellbeing. In particular, she is interested in impulsivity, executive function, personality, neurodiversity, and motivation and engagement. Her current studies are investigating these factors with chronic pain, eating behaviours, and substance use behaviours, as well as engagement in e-health programs, in both non-clinical and clinical populations.Personal details
