Biography
Melinda Edwards was a litigator, Professor of Law, Assistant Dean and Managing Director of her own International Consultancy business before joining the Graduate School of Business in 2019. She has been nationally recognised for her teaching excellence and has designed and taught university courses in: Equity and Trusts; Civil Procedure; Alternative Dispute Resolution; Mediation; Clinical Negligence; Business Law and Negotiation Strategies, also publishing extensively in these areas including a number of textbooks in Equity and Trusts Law. She has also custom-designed corporate education programs for a range of sectors including mining and resources, the legal and medical professions, government, banking and NGOs. She also has extensive international experience including projects in Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, The Czech Republic and Papua New Guinea. Melinda teaches Negotiation, Leadership and Business Law in the Graduate MBA and EMBA programs, is an Executive Coach and leads the Ethical Leadership in Practice series for QUTeX.Personal details

Papua New Guinea Engaged by Morobe Consolidated Goldfields Limited to create and Deliver a Train-the-Trainer course in Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Principles for community affairs and asset protection teams at the Harmony Gold Minefield, Hidden Valley, Morobe, PNG (2018). Myanmar Engaged by BABSEACLE(Bridges Across Borders South East Asia Clinical Legal Education) to conduct a Legal Externship Clinic for foreign and local law students in Yangon (2017). Czech Republic Designed an internship program for young lawyers from The Czech Republic to promote the benefits of collaborative dispute resolution processes throughout Central Europe (2014). Thailand Worked with Bridges Across Borders South East Asia (BABSEACLE) and three Thai Universities to train legal interns and provide clinical legal education opportunities across South East Asia (2012). Bhutan Academic leader of AusAID Asia Pacific Sector Linkages Program for Law & Justice, a one-year pilot program to build legal capacity to improve the administration of justice in Bhutan, (2011 – 2012). Mediation Research – engaged by the Bhutan National Legal Institute (BNLI) to research and analyze the appropriate role of mediation in the legal system, develop a culturally specific model of mediation for Bhutan and to make recommendations regarding the institutionalization of ADR in the Bhutanese legal system (2013). ADR Training – engaged by the BNLI to develop and deliver a national Train-the-Trainer Program in Alternative Dispute Resolution skill for Judges, registrars, lawyers and court administration staff to support the institutionalization of ADR in Bhutan (2013). Peer Mediation for Schools – created and delivered peer mediation workshops for students and teachers in the Eastern, Southern and Northern districts of Bhutan to promote awareness and understanding of the benefits of the mediation process in support of my institutionalization of ADR project (2013). Psychology Training for Judges – co-delivered an education program for the Judiciary and registry staff conducted in the Eastern, Southern and Northern districts of Bhutan to support the institutionalization of ADR into the Bhutanese legal system (2013). Malaysia Appointed External Examiner for the Faculty of Law – UiTM – Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia (2009 - 2012).
