Biography
Moya is an interdisciplinary, human-centred. Feminist-AI researcher carving out the future of human-AI interactions. She designs 'Intelligent Designer Environments' for augmented human collaboration to observe hybrid intelligence using creative, and human-centred, design methods. She works across Extended Reality (XR) and digital media platforms, engaging humans and AI through a process of storytelling, visualisation and algorithmic construction. Most recently she worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Qld identifying the socio-technical risks of Extended Reality social gaming environments, extending this research into AI attacks-at-scale. How we can intervene in grooming and online attacks using AI to build safe virtual spaces is a major focus of her research. At QUT, she is currently co-designing a visual storytelling language for Tik-Tok to improve cyberliteracy in young people, and building a misogyny evaluation framework for AI developers.
Moya is also a creative practitioner and built one of the first location-based games for phones, a 360 doco "Global Rivers" and recently released an augmented reality novel "Thesaura and the Magical Notebook", helping tween readers to learn about cultural resilience and climate change.
Her doctoral research focused on designing a complex narrative for XR environments. She will continue this research by building an AI authoring system to analyse users' emergent, behavioural data in complex virtual environments. She completed a B. Bus (Journalism), MBA and DCI all at QUT and also holds a Grad Cert (AI).
