Dr Pawel Sadowski
Faculty of Science,
School of Biology & Environmental Science
Biography
Pawel completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge (Cambridge, UK) having developed quantitative proteomics methods to study membrane protein translocation under the guidance of Prof Kathryn Lilley. He then undertook postdoctoral research in the area of quantitative proteomics in laboratories of Prof Thomas Neubert at the New York University (New York, USA) and Prof Robert Yang at the University of New South Wales (Sydney, AU) and joined QUT in 2013 to lead CARF Proteomics laboratory. Pawel's role is to supervise research that relies on Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) and Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) instrumentation and provide strategic direction around decisions affecting the Proteomics laboratory and its user-base. In collaboration with UQ SVS and CARF Genomics laboratory, he is automating sample preparation using robotics and developing pipelines that leverage modern mass spectrometry data acquisition approaches (SWATH), deep learning algorithms and long-read RNA sequencing (Iso-Seq) to enable quantitative proteomics and discovery of credible biomarkers implicated in animal health, behavior and enviornmental adaptation.Personal details
