Biography
Rumintha has been involved in several major projects focusing on identifying the dynamics of the internationalisation process of SMEs in a number of countries, including his PhD which examined the internationalisation of the Australian wine industry.Rumintha maintains a strong nexus with his teaching duties and a real-world focus to his research.
His research is focused on identifying the dynamics of the internationalization process of small to medium sized enterprises in divergent markets, in divergent industries. Recently he has expanded his research to examine factors behind the longevity of family firms.
He has published research in journals including: Management International Review, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, International Journal of Wine Marketing, Australasian Journal of Regional Studies, and International Journal of Wine Business Research. He is co-author of the book Global Business Today: Asia-Pacific Edition 1st, 2nd & 3rd Ed. The most widely used introductory international business (IB) book in Australasia.
In 2004 he became a founding member of the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) Tertiary Resources Reference Committee. As a member of the Reference Committee he led communities of practice in producing a series multimedia resources and the promotion of experiential learning in IB. In 2007 Rumintha was awarded the QUT Vice Chancellor's Award for Excellence. Rumintha has also received joint Best Paper awards at Australia New Zealand Academy of International Business and the Australia New Zealand Academy of Management conferences. In 2012 Rumintha received the Australian Federal Governments Australian Award for University Teaching Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.
