Biography
Dr Shaun Nykvist is an educator and researcher in the field of teacher education. He has over 25 years teaching experience and his research expertise is focussed on innovative pedagogical approaches to engage diverse learners, the transformation of teaching and learning in schools and higher education, the challenges associated with digital technologies to support and enhance learning in all modes of learning, and wellbeing associated with the use of digital technologies. Shaun has held multiple leadership positions and provided strategic leadership around key teaching and learning initiatives at educational institutions in Australia, Asia and Europe, whilst also developing strong national and international partnerships in education that provide a global perspective. He has designed and led multiple international capacity building programs to support educators in a wide range of educational topics. Shaun also initially co-designed, coordinated and taught QUT’s initial teacher education subject ‘Supporting innovative pedagogies with digital technologies’ in the Bachelor of Education and Master of Teaching courses.Research Interests

Teaching
Shaun has designed, coordinated and taught a range of subjects/units across multiple degrees at QUT and in international contexts. He has been a course coordinator for the Bachelor of Education as well as the transnational Bachelor of Education Studies in Malaysia. He has designed, coordinated and taught multiple offshore teaching programs in Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Thailand, Bhutan, India, Poland, Germany and Norway.
His teaching expertise has been in the areas of digital technologies in education, learning spaces, earth sciences, robotics, coding/programing, STEM education, mathematics, food and science and global citizenship education. The most recently taught units at QUT have been;
