Shereen is a Master of Philosophy student within the School of Psychology and Counselling. Her research investigates the relationship between faith in God, resilience and overall mental health outcomes amongst university students in Australia. The transition to university life is often fraught with mixed emotions for students. Within this rapidly changing world, there has been a significant rise in mental health issues. There is emerging evidence that faith in God may be a protective factor against mental health issues; however, the psychological mechanisms for this association are not yet clearly understood. Shereen’s study aims to test the hypothesis that the relationship between faith in God and mental health among university students in Australia is mediated by the constructs of hope, meaning of life and resilience.
