Dr Trevor Stanley

School of Accountancy
Biography
BackgroundPrior to employment at QUT, Trevor held various positions at tertiary institutions, teaching in the areas of Computerised Accounting Systems and Financial Accounting. He has played a pioneering role in introducing Graduate Capabilities/Assurance of Learning into the School's undergraduate and postgraduate accountancy curriculum, and initiated a Workplace Learning Experience program which gives accountancy students the opportunity to undertake a work placement in their semester break.
Trevor has also been involved in the development of a virtual work experience web site which highlights the computerised accounting systems of IGA Distribution, Capilano Honey and Parmalat. His most recent project is the development of an Accountancy Capstone unit that uses Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and enables students to solve unstructured, multi-disciplinary problems faced by accountants in the real world. He won a Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning in 2010 from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC). His research also relates to these areas of accounting education.
Trevor has strong links with the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (and its various predecessors) and the Business Educators' Association of Queensland, focusing primarily on accountancy curriculum development and the promotion of accountancy studies.
