Biography
BackgroundTricia is a trained actor, dancer and teaching-artist who has worked in positions across the arts and education sectors. She currently holds the position of lecturer in the Drama study area of the School of Creative Practice, but teaches across the range of arts curriculum areas in the faculty's Initial Teacher Education courses. Tricia's research and practice is situated in the field of Arts Education with special interest in the practice and development of teaching artists.
Tricia has experience teaching from Prep-12, and in the tertiary sector. Her experience also includes various leadership roles in the arts education sector, including the development and delivery of state-wide curriculum and training programs, and engagements with theatre companies and arts organisations as a teaching artist. She has shaped key arts curriculum in Queensland schools through engagements with the QCAA as curriculum writer, state panellist, chief examiner and a range of other roles. Tricia continues to work with theatre companies as a teaching artist both locally and nationally, bridging the fields of arts practice and arts pedagogy. She has also been a member of the QUT Creative Industries executive education team, applying her skills as a teaching artist to leadership education for organisations such as the Queensland Ambulance Service.
Her key areas of interest include teaching artist development, approaches to arts assessment, application of arts-based learning in leadership, and the use of technology in creative learning. She is particularly interested in the capacities of the teaching artist as a bridge between artform and learning.
