Biography
Background Vinesh Chandra is an associate professor in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership in the Faculty of Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice. His teaching and research focus on technology, STEM, and global education. Aspro Chandra is the academic engagement lead (Teaching and learning) and the study area coordinator for STEM education. He has led several projects overseas. In 2020-23, Aspro Chandra was one of the leaders of the Australia Awards Graduate Certificate in STEM Education course delivered to teachers from Papua New Guinea. For this project, the team was awarded the Wharton Gold Award in the Oceania Category (2022) and the highly commendable award for best practice by the International Education Association of Australia (2023). In 2024, Aspro Chandra received an Australia Award for University Teaching (AAUT) citation award for "Developing and leading innovative integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education initiatives that have enhanced learning and teaching nationally and internationally." He leads the SEE Project, which targets the print and digital literacy agenda in rural and remote schools in developing countries. He has also created the SEE Library, a free library with books "written by, with for children". His book "Share Engage Educate: SEEding Change for a Better World" (Brill Publishers) highlights his work with his team in eight developing countries. Associate Professor Chandra has also co-authored a book titled "STEM Education in the Primary School: A Teacher's Toolkit", published recently by Cambridge, which has received two awards from Education Publishing Australia. More recently, he has co-authored a series of books titled "My STEM Workbook" for primary school students.Research interests
