National Reconciliation Week
27 May - 3 June
National Reconciliation Week (NRW) helps us understand the need for a shared awareness and respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and non-Indigenous Australians.
It is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and an opportunity to examine how we can contribute to broader reconciliation across Australia.
QUT offers engagement opportunities during National Reconciliation Week, and encourages staff and students to get involved with activities in the broader community, such as those hosted by Reconciliation Queensland and Reconciliation Australia.
Fiona Foley: Veiled Paradise
Join us for Veiled Paradise, an exhibition hosted by the QUT Art Museum which surveys three decades of Batdjala artist Fiona Foley’s practice.
Fiona Foley is a leading contemporary Aboriginal artist whose work is informed by her ancestral connection to K’Gari/Fraser Island, drawing equally upon its serene beauty and the history of systemic violence and sexual exploitation perpetrated on its shores.
The exhibition will run from 19 June - 29 August 2021, entry is free.
Indigenous connection
We are strengthening our commitment to, and connection with, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities by working in partnership with Indigenous Australian community organisations.
We are committed to developing partnerships which benefit the Indigenous Australian Community and enrich the knowledge and capabilities of university staff, students, and community.
