The School of Education is a leading provider of initial teacher education and professional continuing education, preparing teachers and leaders to create engaging and inclusive learning environments in early education and school settings.

Selection criteria

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  1. A doctoral qualification or equivalent in a relevant education discipline with an internationally recognised record of excellence in research and/or scholarship.
  2. A proven track record of highly developed leadership, as demonstrated by the ability to provide strategic focus and direction, fostering a culture of innovation and collaborative academic achievement and improved organisational performance.
  3. Strong strategic planning and operational management skills, business acumen and a proven record of budget, resource and risk management at a senior level.
  4. Demonstrated ability to identify and exploit new opportunities in education, research, professional education and consulting to enhance business development opportunities with relevant industries, professions or institutions at the local and international levels.
  5. Demonstrated strategic leadership of a multidisciplinary portfolio of teaching, learning and research.
  6. Highly developed skills in promoting and fostering collaborative interdisciplinary endeavours and ability to build partnerships to ensure sustainability and future growth.
  7. Evidence of effective responses to contemporary issues across multiple education contexts and sectors.

Information for Applicants

Term

The appointment will be offered on a fixed-term, full-time basis for five (5) years.

Remuneration

An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Location

This position is based at our Kelvin Grove campus.

Additional Requirements

This position has been identified by QUT as being engaged in child related employment. Appointment to this position is therefore subject to the provisions of the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000.

The appointee will be required to undergo a ‘Working with Children Check’ which will assess their suitability to work with children (defined as anyone under 18 years of age) based on their criminal history.

Applicants who reach the final stage of the selection process will be expected to undergo a check of their criminal history. Those matters which do not have an impact on the inherent requirements of the position will not be taken into consideration. Applicants will be provided
with an opportunity to discuss the outcome of the check before a decision on appointment is made.
