QUT is one of three universities in Queensland to offer the Queensland Government’s Turn to Teaching Internship Program (TTT Program).

The program is open to students enrolling in QUT’s Master of Teaching (Secondary).

Scholarship winners will receive $20,000 (taxed) in their first year of postgraduate study.  Run through the Department of Education, the program provides you with:

  • financial support while you complete postgraduate studies
  • a paid internship with support in the classroom while you gain real-world experience
  • a permanent teaching position in a Queensland state school following completion of your studies.

QUT Master of Teaching student Nick Blain is currently completing postgraduate study after working in Queensland hospitals for the past five years.

Choosing science and history as his teaching areas, Nick enjoys the flexibility of his degree and the chance to develop his skills in real-world settings.

“The lecturers and course leaders are always happy to help and incorporate their own experiences,” he said.

“I have a lot of experience in classrooms through different placements and I feel well equipped to take that into my future practice.”

Completing an internship in a Queensland state school will provide you with real-world experience and the chance to build your professional network.
