Alumni+ is an initiative that allows an alumnus of the QUT MBA programs the opportunity for continued engagement and lifelong learning upon graduation - and a chance to get back into the classroom.

Relive your MBA experience by participating in up to four MBA units per year. While you won’t be expected to complete any assessment, you will interact and engage with the students and lend your experience and insights to the class.

Cost

Nominal fee of $100 + GST for each unit

The fee goes to the QUT Learning Potential Fund, providing scholarships to students who exhibit academic potential but whose financial situation might preclude them from study.

Available units

Places are limited and priority of access to classes is given to currently enrolled MBA associates. QUT may limit the number of units any individual can participate in.

Registration for unit offerings closes 14 days before the unit opens, and all registrations must be received before that date.

Alumni+ participants are not eligible to complete assessment or receive marks or academic credit for Alumni Plus units, nor will academic transcripts or other statements be issued for participation in the program.

Alumni+ participants are expected to attend classes regularly and participate fully in all non-assessed class activities.

This unit is in the MBA program to equip students with knowledge and skills needed to undertake budgeting and cost control accounting activities that support the broader operational decision making processes.

Provides managers with an understanding of some of the key issues affecting managing human resources and how to leverage knowledge and skills within their organisation.

Marketing Strategically

Marketing has implications for all other aspects of the business, and vice versa. Thus, managers working in any business discipline must gain an appreciation of marketing strategy and tactics, with a view to creating value.

Cancellation

Unit offerings may be subject to change without notice. If a unit is cancelled, Alumni+ participants will have the option of a refund, or to donate the payment to the Learning Potential Fund.

You may cancel your registration up to 7 days before the unit opens to be eligible for a full refund. Cancellations within 7 days of the unit opening, or after the unit opens, are not eligible for a refund. To cancel your registration or for assistance regarding cancellation, contact mba@qut.edu.au.

QUT MBA Suite Awards

Newly launched annual awards encompasses Executive MBA and MBA courses

Open to all current QUT MBA Program Suite associates and alumni, these awards are a fantastic way to recognise and celebrate our excellence, leadership and community impact.

These awards will be presented at the Graduation Dinner each year.

Nominations for this award are to be submitted by peers and Faculty staff. No self-nominations are permitted. Multiple nominations are encouraged. To nominate, please send an email to gsb@qut.edu.au, including a statement in no more than 300 words that outlines how the nominee meets the criteria for the award. Nominees may also be invited to participate in an interview as part of the selection process. All nominations are due by 9am, Monday 3rd November 2025.

Real Deal Community Impact Award

This award celebrates individuals who exemplify outstanding leadership and a deep commitment to serving their communities.

This award is presented annually to a QUT MBA/EMBA associate or alumnus who demonstrate success in all the following areas:

  • Exceptional leadership abilities and a passion for driving meaningful change.
  • Significant involvement with the Real Deal Community Initiative (Pro Bono Centre) through volunteer time or pro bono projects for RDCI partners.
  • A proven impact or outcome which creates lasting impact through innovative solutions or initiatives that address key social or community challenges.

This award recognises those who go above and beyond, using their skills and influence to make a lasting impact on the lives of others.

QUT MBA Suite Merit Award (previously MBA Directors Award)

QUT MBA Suite Merit Award (previously MBA Directors Award)

The QUT MBA Merit Award is an accolade recognising exceptional academic and community contributions from QUT MBA Program Suite associates.

This award will be presented to MBA Suite graduands who have:

  • Achieved a cumulative GPA of 6.5 or higher at the end of their EMBA or MBA studies, and
  • Actively participated in at least one project for the Real Deal Community Initiative (Pro Bono Centre) during their EMBA or MBA studies, demonstrating their commitment to using business skills for social good and the impact through their participation.

There is no need to nominate for this award. The Graduate School of Business will assess and confer the award as appropriate, ensuring that all eligible MBA & EMBA graduates are recognised for their outstanding achievements.

The QUT MBA Suite Merid Award celebrates the unique combination of academic excellence and community impact that defines QUT's MBA Program Suite. It highlights individuals who embody the spirit of leadership, innovation, and service to the community.

Associates must have completed a minimum of 20 out of 24 units with QUT as part of their MBA/EMBA. Those who have received Advanced Standing or exemption for studies completed at another institution beyond this minimum are not eligible for consideration.
