QUT Professor Kerrie Sadiq has been appointed to the eight-member Tax Practitioners Board, the national body responsible for the regulation of tax practitioners.

Professor Sadiq is an Australian Research Council Future Fellow and co-editor of the Australian Tax Review, a leading, internationally recognised academic journal, and author of numerous leading tax books and publications.

She is Professor of Taxation in the School of Accountancy in the QUT Business School where she is a member of the research group Accounting for Social Change and the Centre for Decent Work and Industry.

Professor Sadiq’s areas of research expertise are in international tax, tax expenditures and capital gains tax.

Her recent research has been on international tax issues, such as the global minimum tax, transfer pricing, the OECD’s approach to base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS), Australia’s adoption of the BEPS recommendations, and the publication and exchange of tax information.

Professor Sadiq has written explanatory articles on international tax policy and reform for The Conversation and presented research findings to professional bodies. She appeared before the 2015 Senate Inquiry into Corporate Tax Avoidance.

Professor Sadiq is the former chair of The Tax Institute’s Academic Board and has been a member of committees and boards in academic institutions and professional associations.

She holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Queensland, a Master of Laws from QUT, and a PhD from Deakin University. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Chartered Tax Advisor, a Member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and a Member of CPA Australia.
