Four QUT educators have been awarded citations for their outstanding contributions to student learning at last night’s 2023 Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) ceremony.
The citations are awarded to individuals or teams who have contributed to the quality of student learning in a specific area of responsibility over a sustained period.
Categories include Natural and Physical Science, Agriculture, Environmental and Related Studies, Engineering, Information Technology, Architecture and Building, Health, Education, Business, Management and Commence, Society and Culture, and Creative Arts.
The QUT recipients were Dr Nathan Boase (Faculty of Science, School of Chemistry & Physics), Associate Professor Vinesh Chandra (Faculty of Creative Industries, Education & Social Justice, School of Teacher Education & Leadership), Professor Anup Basu (Faculty of Business & Law, School of Economics & Finance), and Associate Professor Danica Hickey (Faculty of Health, School of Biomedical Sciences).

Nathan, Danica, Anup and Vinesh are all extremely worthy recipients of these national awards and showcase the diversity of excellent practice across our many disciplines that is being shared with our students.”
The citations were awarded for the following contributions:
Dr Nathan Boase
- For the development of effective hybrid learning environments, through innovations in technology and inclusive practices, to demystify chemistry and develop knowledgeable independent learners.
Associate Professor Danica Hickey
- For improved data analytics and professional transferrable skills for Biomedical Science graduates through authentic assessment enhanced by emotive feed-forward practice.
Associate Professor Vinesh Chandra
- For developing and leading innovative integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education initiatives that have enhanced learning and teaching nationally and internationally.
Professor Anup Basu
- For developing finance students into highly employable graduates through an authentic and unique experiential learning initiative: managing a real investment portfolio and evaluating real-time performance.
