A pioneer in evolutionary design, Professor John Frazer, has been appointed to QUT as Head of School of Design within the Faculty of Built Environment and Engineering.
Professor Frazer comes to Queensland University of Technology from Gehry Technologies Digital Practice Ecosystem, where he was the international research coordinator.
He has a strong focus on the links between digital design technology, environmental context and the world of practice.
"One of the strengths of QUT's School of Design is the very close links it has with supportive design professions and industry," he said.
"I will seek to reinforce this by providing access for the professions to advanced techniques and skills."
Professor Frazer is also passionate about the links between research-led advance and innovation in student learning.
He has developed his expertise in design at Cambridge University, the Architectural Association in London, the University of Ulster, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
He also holds the positions of Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers and has honorary professorships from the universities of Beijing, Dalian, Fudan and Shandong.
