What is the purpose of this research?

This survey is being undertaken as part of a QUT research project, led by the QUT Human-Building Interaction Group (HBI), to better understand if and how the design of the built environment contributes to staff health and well-being on university campuses.

Are you looking for people like me?

You are invited to participate in the online questionnaire if you are a QUT staff member or employee with an office or workstation located at QUT Gardens Point campus.

What will you ask me to do?

Participation involves completing a short online questionnaire about yourself, your office work set-up, your well-being (over the past 2 weeks) and physical activity levels (over the past 7 days).

The survey will take less than 10 minutes to complete and can be completed at any time.

Questions include:

  • 'I've been feeling optimistic about the future'
  • 'During the last 7 days, how much time did you spend sitting on a weekday?'

Your participation is entirely voluntary. If you agree to participate, you do not have to complete any question(s) you are uncomfortable answering. Your responses are anonymous and your choice to participate, will not affect your current or future relationship with the researchers, QUT or your employer. As the survey is anonymous, once it has been submitted it will not be possible to withdraw your submitted answers.

Are there any risks for me in taking part?

Participation may inconvenience your time away from work. However, there are no risks beyond day-to-day living associated with completing the online questionnaire.

Are there any benefits for me in taking part?

It is not expected that this project will directly benefit you. However, the data collected will provide insight into improving environmental supports for health, well-being and physical activity on university campuses. The results of the research will be summarized in a report and shared with participants.

Will I be compensated for my time?

You will not be compensated for completing the online questionnaire.

Your name and contact details will be de-identified from the online questionnaire. Alternatively, you can contact the research team if you decide to opt-out of future research after providing your contact details.

I am interested - what should I do next?
