Overview
Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is becoming a popular choice for organisations to support their digital transformation and to maintain operational resilience. Many organisations are keen to adopt Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to dramatically improve operational efficiency. Many organisations train and assign their staff as “citizen-developer” to design, test, and maintain the bots using Low-Code/No-Code platforms. However, there are number of issues surfaced when using organisational employees as citizen developer ranging from technical & process capabilities to scalability of RPA.
Research activities
This project explores how organisations build and use hyper-automation solutions using citizen-developer model.
Research tasks include a systematic literature review to:
- collect
- collate, and,
- synthesise high quality published material on the digital capabilities and digital transformation to build a conceptual framework, and collection of primary data to verify the framework.
The outcomes are expected to document and categorise the technical, process, and other relevant capabilities within different organisational contexts such as health, education and retail.
Outcomes
This project aims to analyse the challenges and underlying factors associated with ‘citizen-developer’ using Target Operating Model (TOM) to explore the socio-technical and future of work issues.
The project will provide novel insights on dynamic skills and capabilities required for citizen-developers for effective design, implementation and maintenance of RPA.
