Overview

This research project aims to investigate the effects of interactions with intelligent agents on player experiences in various contexts, including videogames, learning-teaching, and complex data analysis. The intelligent agents will be developed using ChatGPT as a backend, and the studies will be conducted in both single-player and multiplayer settings, utilizing virtual and augmented reality technologies.

Research activities

As a student participating in this project, you may be involved in the following research activities:

  1. Designing and implementing interactions with intelligent agents in virtual and augmented reality environments.
  2. Conducting user studies and experiments to collect data on social-emotional and cognitive outcomes related to the interactions.
  3. Analyzing and interpreting the collected data to draw meaningful insights.
  4. Collaborating with other researchers and team members to discuss findings and contribute to the research publication.

Outcomes

The research aims to provide valuable insights into the effects of interactions with intelligent agents. The expected outcomes include:

  1. Understanding the impact of these interactions on social-emotional and cognitive outcomes, such as enjoyment, cognitive and emotional responses, immersion, engagement, social connectedness, prosocial behaviors, and long-term effects.
  2. Identifying the strengths and limitations of using intelligent agents in immersive systems.
  3. Informing the development and design of future intelligent agents for improved player experiences.

Skills and experience

While specific skills and experience may vary depending on the project's scope and requirements, the following skills are generally beneficial:

  1. Proficiency in virtual and augmented reality development platforms and tools.
  2. Strong programming skills in relevant languages (e.g., C++, Unity, Python).
  3. Knowledge of human-computer interaction and user experience research methodologies.
  4. Familiarity with data analysis techniques including qualitative analysis and statistical tools.
  5. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
