Human biomarkers of stress, trauma, and memories of fear
Understanding how disorders such as posttraumatic stress disorder develop following trauma is a contemporary challenge for researchers in psychology. The best explanations involve a combination of psychological and biological factors that interact during and following trauma to create a range of troubling symptoms. This project will use cutting edge technology at QUT to provide insights into how a mix of biology and behaviour can result in exacerbated stress responses and threat memories in experimental and real-world settings.

TRAP: Translation into practice of tools for risk assessment for healing and prevention of venous leg ulcers
Approximately 30% of venous leg ulcers (VLUs) fail to respond to evidence-based treatments and remain unhealed; while after healing, 60–70% of ulcers recur. Identifying disease distress in patients with chronic venous leg ulcers
Venous leg ulcers (VLUs) make up 70% of all chronic leg ulcers. Unfortunately, around 30% of VLUs fail to heal in a 24-week period often despite evidence-based practice. Chronic VLUs impose a significant burden on people with these ulcers. Why do epithelial cells have antigen processing machinery?
Epithelial Cells (ECs) constitute the border between the host immune system and an environment teeming with inhaled antigens. Work from us and others has highlighted that ECs have the ability to express the antigen processing and presentation machinery, Major Histocompatibility Complex class II (MHC II) that is important in initiating immune responses. Synergic identification of prestress force, moving force and interfacial force for corroborative substructural modelling
We are looking for an appropriate PhD candidate working for a recently awarded ARC Discovery Project. The PhD candidate will work on the further improvement of the previously developed Synergic identification of prestress force [1] and moving force applying to continuous supported prestressed concrete bridges using regularisation techniques [2-7] and corroborative substructural modelling.
