Overview

The Australian housing market is in crisis and at the same time, residential investors are exiting the market.  This project will investigate international models for incentivising private investment into public housing.

Research engagement

You will undertake an international  literature review of decision making drivers of residential investors and the various tax/policy incentives in place by governments.  AND/OR You will conduct an indepth case study (or two) on models of public housing supply that attract private investment.

Research activities

You will be working with Dr Lyndall Bryant and Dr Bronwyn McCredie, experts in housing markets and accountancy/taxation respectively.

Outcomes

This work will provide important background/data collection for further research into the topic of driving investment in housing.  There is the opportunity for you to continue with this research topic and grow it into a masters/phd project.

Skills and experience

An ideal candidate would have an interest in the Australian housing market and a genuine interest in learning what drives residential investors.  You may come from a property economics, accounting, other business or built environment perspective.  You will understand the fundamentals of the structure of a literature review and case study analysis.  You will have an inquiring mind and a willingness to take on feedback to improve your work.
