Overview
This topic will focus on reconstructing past environments (+40,000 years) of the southeast South Australia (Mount Gambier) through palaeoecological analysis of wetland and cave sediments. This is supported by an Australian Research Council Linkage Grant (LP210200704 Deep Time Extinctions and Environments in Australian Underwater Caves).
Research engagement
Fieldwork to Mount Gambier and Laboratory analysis (pollen, charcoal and geochemical analysis)
Research activities
Fieldwork and will be able to select as aspect of the laboratory analysis. Will be working with Patrick Moss, Balz Kamber, Julien Louys and Gilbert Price.
Outcomes
Produce data that will form a component of peer reviewed publications and students will be invited to be a co-author.
Skills and experience
Basic geological, ecological or environmental knowledge.

Additional information
Students will be assisted in the development of field and laboratory skills (including risk assessments). A basic background to the broader project will be provided.
