Overview
The Queensland housing market is already in crisis and the Olympic construction program is a vortex that is sucking in all available trades. With less than eight (8) years before the Olympic games, what can be done to raise the urgency and focus on housing affordability in the Brisbane 2032 games legacy plans.
Research engagement
You will undertake an international literature review of prior Olympic host cities to identify the impact on housing affordability and actions taken by governments to enhance the Olympic housing legacy. AND/OR You will conduct an indepth case study (or two) major event host cities and initiatives undertaken by governments to ensure minimal housing impacts on residents.
Research activities
You will be working with Dr Lyndall Bryant an expert in housing markets who will supervise and guide your research activities.
Outcomes
This work will provide important background/data collection for further research into the topic of driving investment in housing. There is the opportunity for you to continue with this research topic and grow it into a masters/phd project.
Skills and experience
An ideal candidate would have an interest in the Australian housing market and a genuine interest in learning what drives residential property development and house prices. You may come from a property economics, business or built environment perspective. You will understand the fundamentals of the structure of a literature review and case study analysis. You will have an inquiring mind and a willingness to take on feedback to improve your work.

Your supervisor is located at Gardens Point campus. You will be expected to conduct some meetings in person, however Teams meetings/online will be the most common form of communication.
