26th March 2022

QUT are partnering with The Engineering Link Group, the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Engineers Australia to deliver hands-on experiences for school students to showcase engineering as it really is – exciting, challenging and world-changing.

The South Queensland Engineering Link Project offers three events designed for high-school and primary school students and will be held at the Science and Engineering Centre, P Block QUT Gardens Point on Saturday 26 March 2022.

Registrations are essential, and spaces are limited.

Engineering Link Project

Suitable for: Year 10, 11 & 12 students

Time: 8.00am to 4.00pm

A full day experience including two hands-on intensive workshops and a networking lunch. Students will choose two workshops from a huge range of engineering disciplines with all events facilitated by QUT STEM ambassadors and real-world engineers. Joining this event gives students the chance to connect with professional engineers over lunch and during the workshops.

Build a Sustainable City

Suitable for: Year 7, 8 & 9 students

Time: 12.00pm to 4.00pm

From bridges, footpaths, bike paths and e-mobility networks – students will work in teams to develop infrastructure solutions to elevate life and improve sustainability in our cities. In the context of a hypothetical green bridge project, students will experience the roles of planners, designers (landscape, interior, architecture), civil engineers, and builders. QUT STEM ambassadors and real-world engineers will lead the project session.

Dream Big (in partnership with Engineers Australia)

Suitable for: Year 4, 5 & 6 students (and their parents/guardians)

Time: 12.00pm to 4.00pm

Students will watch and be inspired as engineers showcase what is possible through film, before participating in hands-on workshops (a parent/guardian must accompany their own child/ren).

Registrations are essential, and spaces are limited.
