Join the fun from day one

Welcome party

There’s no time to waste so join in the fun to meet new people at the very beginning! Our welcome party just for study abroad and exchange students is the hottest ticket in town each semester and we’ve reserved one just for you.

QUT Buddies

Connect with local and other study abroad and exchange students through the QUT Buddies Club – a group run by students for students. You can sign up to be an Exchangie so you can get the best local advice and connections before you arrive in Brissy. Your low-cost membership gets you access to all the Buddies events.

Organised day trips away

What’s more your thing - beaches, waterfalls or koala encounters? Well you can experience all three on the International Student Services (ISS) organised day trips. ISS runs heaps of trips each semester so make sure you sign up!

QUT Global Ambassador program

Become a QUT Global ambassador - a volunteer opportunity to gain valuable experience and promote your home university to prospective outbound QUT exchange students. It’s also a great way to meet local and international students alike!

Everything in one place

We have two vibrant inner-city campuses: Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove. You’ll be close to all the action with cultural and commercial hubs in walking distance to each. You can get between each campus with ease on our free shuttle bus that runs every 10 minutes.

You will have access to high-tech study and collaborative learning spaces including workshops and simulation centres. Explore inspiring public spaces, and a lively campus environment that’s full of exciting opportunities.

Both campuses offer arts and performance venues, fitness and medical facilities, shops and food outlets. Oh, and did we mention that the botanical gardens border our Gardens Point campus? Now you know where the name comes from!

Support from start to finish

Moving to a new country can be a big change, but don’t worry we’re here to help. Access free, professional and confidential counselling services, and join in the study abroad and exchange student Orientation session.

When you arrive at Brisbane airport, a QUT representative will be there to welcome you to Australia and take you to your new home so you can settle in.

Our dedicated QUT Global team are also available if you have any questions. Feel free to send us an email for advice.

Flexible learning

While you’re here, you’ll of course need to enrol into some units. But don’t worry, QUT’s flexible study means you’ll get to see more than just the classroom. Your QUT study will be a blend of the latest theory and practical learning, both on-campus and in online activities.

QUT is known as the university for the real world which means you’ll participate in hands-on study, work on case-studies with real companies, get a ‘glimpse’ into the inner workings of industry and even share your ideas with partner organisations. There are more than 1000 units available in QUT’s faculties, and around 400 units have been pre-approved, making your application easy. Choose the units that interest you from across faculties and study areas or select one of the package options available.
