Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day 2022, QUT will be offering industry experiences as part of our fully funded Power of Engineering program.
The industry experience will include a presentation from one of our current engineering students outlining ‘what is engineering’, a keynote speaker from the host industry partner, followed by an industry activity (this might include a site tour, a workshop or a speed networking with engineering staff).
We have redesigned the full day event program to a half day experience, to be less disruptive to students, teachers and the school.
We are offering this opportunity to students in Year 7, 8 & 9, to align with their key decision-making time for senior subjects and we know that this cohort also has greater flexibility in the curriculum to leave school.
Teachers are invited to nominate female students in Year 7, 8 or 9. We will be taking bookings for:
- 10 students + 1 teacher (pre-paid voucher for maxi taxi transport)
- 18 – 22 students + teacher (pre-booked mini buses)
Date: Thursday 16 June or Thursday 23 June (International Women in Engineering Day)
Time: 9am – 11am or 12pm – 2pm
Location: Brisbane schools will be allocated an industry experience based on proximity to school.
Industry partners to be confirmed: i.e. Boeing, AECOM, Qantas, Telstra, SEQ Water, TMR, Queens Wharf, Cross River Rai and many more.
