The QUT STEM Subject Selection event on is specifically designed to help you make informed decisions about your future study and career options in STEM. Registrations are essential.

In May 2021, we held a series of information sessions for Year 9 and 10 students about how studying STEM is important for opening up your future career prospects and to learn more about STEM study options at QUT. Watch the sessions below to find out about course options and which subjects in high school best prepare you for your future university studies.

Welcome and Why Choose STEM

Meet QUT alumna, Genevieve de Michele, who will tell you about her experiences as a civil engineer and current QUT student, Krishore, explains some introductory information about STEM at QUT.

Science

Jennifer McLeod, Head of School, Chemistry and Physics, talks about studying science at QUT followed by current QUT science student, Erynn, who shares some of her experiences at QUT.

Information Technology

Hear from Dr Rebekah Eden, Lecturer in Enterprise Systems, School of Information Systems, about studying IT at QUT. Current QUT IT student Cain also shares his story about starting uni.

Engineering

Learn about studying engineering at QUT from Les Dawes, Head of School, Civil and Environmental Engineering. Current QUT science student, Gemma, also shares her experiences about uni life.

Mathematics

Timothy Moroney, Professor in Mathematics, talks about studying maths and data science at QUT. You will also hear from current QUT science student, Dom, who shares his experiences.
