Career path: Video game industry
'The Diploma in Esports is an exciting and unique pathway that I haven’t seen anywhere else. I’ve enjoyed learning about the community surrounding esports, including the teams, players, fans, everyone that’s part of the industry and how they work together.'
Fast-track to an IT degree
'To gain the necessary qualifications to pursue a career change in the IT industry, I needed to further my studies. The diploma in IT allowed me to gain the relevant qualifications required while "fast-tracking" the pathway into a Bachelor of Computer Science at QUT.'
QUT pathways
'The Diploma in Creative Industries facilitated a smooth transition to my Bachelor of Design degree by allowing me to progress to the second year. This unique feature permitted me to complete the entire degree in three years, aligning with students who initially enrolled in the bachelor degree program. This ensured that I progressed through the course at the same stages as my peers. My QUT College Diploma in Creative Industries provided me with the necessary skills and confidence to pursue a Bachelor of Design.
Real-world skills
'The Diploma in Creative Industries helped me become familiar with the new environment at university. During the Managing Social Media unit at QUT College, I had a chance to work with real world clients such as QAGOMA (Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art) and QUT Library. We created social media strategies and gained advice from them. I also improved my writing skills for my assignments and gained fundamental knowledge of what I will learn in my bachelor degree.'
