What you'll receive
The recipient will receive $10,000, paid directly into their nominated bank account, paid in semester instalments of $5,000.
- The first instalment will be paid after Semester 1, 2024.
- The second instalment will be paid after census in Sem 2, 2024.
- Eligibility for payment is contingent on the recipient satisfying the conditions of their scholarship contract.
Eligibility
You must:
- be studying full-time in a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) single or double degree
- have at least two semesters of study remaining, graduating Dec 2024 or after
- be intending to practice law when you complete your degree
- be facing personal, social or economic challenges
- participate in extracurricular activities or demonstrate leadership qualities.
How to apply
To apply for this scholarship, you must:
- complete the online application form by 11.45pm on the closing date
- prepare copies of relevant documentation that supports your claims in the event that you are shortlisted for interview.

What happens next?
Assessing applications
You'll receive an email to confirm that we've received your application.
We'll assess applications based on:
- academic merit
- your personal, social or economic situation
- your personal and professional achievements
- your career goals.
Shortlisting
Our selection panel will assess all applications against the selection criteria and shortlist a number of applicants. We'll call you and send a follow up email if you are shortlisted. Applicants who are not shortlisted will receive an email. This may take a couple of weeks.
Interview
If you're shortlisted, we'll invite you to attend an interview with the selection panel. This will likely be early May. You may be required to supply to QUT, supporting evidence for the claims made in your application. You will be advised of the process for doing this in due course.
After the interview, we'll send you an email to advise you of the outcome.
If you've been awarded the scholarship, we'll let you know by phone and send you an email to confirm your scholarship.
Conditions
You must:
- remain enrolled full time
- maintain a passing GPA
- keep an academic record clear of misconduct.
You can:
- work for extra income, as long as it doesn't affect your study.
We may terminate your scholarship if you fail to maintain satisfactory academic progress.
The scholarship is provided principally for educational purposes.
Contact the Australian Taxation Office to determine if this scholarship is tax exempt.
