What you'll receive

You'll receive:

  • a $2,000 scholarship paid directly to your bank account upon satisfaction of the scholarship conditions
  • a 4-week unpaid placement at one of AusLaw Partners' south-east Queensland offices, to complete LPP118 Placement unit
  • optional entrepreneurship mentoring.

Eligibility

You must be:

  • an international* onshore student on a temporary visa governed by a CoE
  • residing in south-east Queensland
  • admitted in the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (GDLP)
  • enrolled in LPP118 Placement unit
  • willing to undertake the unpaid 4-week placement at one of Auslaw Partners' southeast Queensland offices
  • willing to stay in south-east Queensland for work, after completing the GDLP, should a Work Rights visa be obtained
  • willing to complete the application process by the due date.

*QUT defines an 'international student' according to the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (Cth) with reference to an 'overseas student'.

How to apply

Applications for 2025 will open in March 2025.

You need to provide:

  • a copy of most recent academic transcripts
  • up to date resume
  • a statement detailing your legal-related business/career plan.

You may be required for interview, or may be selected based on application alone. This will be at the discretion of the selection panel at each offering.

What happens next?

You will be notified in writing of the outcome of your application.

If interviews are required, shortlisted applicants will be notified by phone and will receive an email confirming the interview details.

Conditions

The scholarship is tenable for the teaching period / semester in which the student is enrolled to complete the internship requirement of the GDLP.

You must:

  • remain enrolled fulltime in the GDLP for the duration of the scholarship
  • enrol in LPP118 – Placement unit
  • complete the unpaid 4-week placement at one of Auslaw Partners’ south-east Qld offices
  • achieve a minimum GPA 5.0 in the program and maintain good academic standing.

The value of the scholarship is $2,000 per recipient.

Payment will be made at the completion of the LPP118 Placement Unit upon satisfaction of all academic requirements.

About the scholarship

Auslaw Partners has been offering professional accreditation work placements to international law students at QUT since 2020. To further strengthen the relationship, the Faculty of Business and Law is introducing the Auslaw Multicultural Scholarship. This generous financial incentive will be provided to two international students per semester, positioning AusLaw Partners as an employer of choice for QUT Law graduates.

The scholarship also serves as a pathway into the legal profession for those who choose to remain in Australia on a Work Rights Visa.
