What you'll receive

You'll receive:

  • $5,000 to assist with funding a professional development opportunity.

There are a total of three scholarships available.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be enrolled in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance)
  • have completed a minimum of 168 credit points including the following units:
    • Foundations in Improvisation  and Choreographic Practice
    • Dance Composition
    • Performance in Context 1
    • Screen Dance
  • enrol in the following units in third year:
    • Performance in Context 2
    • Independent Dance Project
  • have a GPA of 4.5 (or higher)
  • be enrolled full-time
  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

How to apply

To apply for this scholarship please submit the following:

  • a current CV (including links to video footage of performance or other portfolio work, if available)
  • academic transcripts
  • a brief proposal (1-2 pages) outlining a professional development experience to enhance your dance or choreographic practice or enable transition into professional practice.
    • a clear framework of the budget, including timelines, associated with the expenditure should also be included.
  • statement of any equity disadvantage or hardship in further study. QUT Equity scheme applications can be utilised.

It is essential to contact the Dance study area coordinator to discuss your proposed activity before you submit an application.

What happens next?

A selection panel will assess all applications against the criteria and you will be notified of the outcome.  The panel may interview shortlisted applicants.

Conditions

To retain this scholarship you must:

  • remain enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance)
  • maintain a minimum GPA of 4.5 (or higher)
  • provide confirmation, receipts for proof of purchase of the activity outlined in your proposal
  • provide a report at the conclusion of your professional development activity and support marketing and promotion of the scholarship.

The Dance Professional Development Scholarship is generously supported by a donor who wishes to encourage and inspire dance students to expand their skills and knowledge, allowing them to reach their full potential.
