Eligibility
IARTS is open to all Indigenous Australian students currently enrolled in the Faculty of Science at QUT.
You can start with the Working in Research Program in the first year, progress to the 120-150 hour Research Experiences in the second and third year, and then undertake either an honours or MPhil degree.
Alternatively, you may elect to only engage in one or two of the scheme’s components. Any combination is permitted, provided you meet the eligibility requirements.
The Working in Research and Research Experience scheme components are flexible, with work time frames agreed between supervisor and student. You could choose a short, intensive experience or work fewer hours per week over a number of months.

Testimonials
A fantastic experience
Jack Ryan-Boyd'The experience to participate in the IARTS has been fantastic, I never imagined I’d get the opportunity to conduct research. I feel like I’ve learnt a lot and being able to deep dive on a singular topic has been a fun journey. I’ve engaged with fantastic researchers and PhD students who’ve been extremely supportive and patient with me, giving me the opportunity to contribute to the research project.
This experience will allow my resume to standout, build my knowledge and skillset while also providing me real world experience in research.
For anyone wanting to apply don’t self-eliminate, just go for it. If a great opportunity comes your way just apply and see what happens. I never thought I’d ever be smart enough to obtain a scholarship or conduct academic research. Thanks to this scholarship I was able to do both.'
