What you'll receive

The three scholarships available are valued at $7,500, paid over three years for an eligible bachelor degree in the Faculty of Science.

Faculty of Science Indigenous Australian Scholarship recipients will receive automatic membership into QUT's College of Excellence.

Eligibility

You must:

  • be an Indigenous Australian commencing student
  • have completed Year 12 (or a gap year) in 2024
  • be starting university for the first time in 2025
  • have achieved a minimum unadjusted ATAR of 85 or above
  • have placed QUT as your first preference
  • be applying to start an undergraduate or related double degree offered by the Faculty of Science.

Successful completion of a Faculty of Science START QUT (STEM Intensive) unit may be considered in lieu of the minimum ATAR requirement.

How to apply

You do not need to complete a scholarship application for the Faculty of Science Indigenous Australian Scholarship. All eligible students who complete a QTAC application in line with QTAC key dates will be considered based on academic performance.

What happens next?

We will make offers for scholarships from mid-January 2025.

Conditions

You must:

  • be enrolled in an eligible course for the duration of your studies
  • achieve a minimum course (accumulative) grade point average (GPA) of 4 each semester.

You can't:

  • defer your scholarship offer
  • hold any other scholarship except an Equity Scholarship. If you have any questions about holding other scholarships, contact us at scholarships@qut.edu.au.

Indigenous Australian applicants that have not previously verified their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Descent with the QUT Oodgeroo Unit and are applying for an identified scholarship, must also complete the Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Descent (CATSID) process to confirm eligibility.

About the scholarship

This scholarship aims to support high-achieving Indigenous Australian students who are starting their first year of an undergraduate degree in science, mathematics or IT. The scholarship also aims to foster further opportunities by supporting and engaging students in other structured program opportunities for Indigenous Australian students in the Faculty of Science, like the Indigenous Australian Research Training Scheme (IARTS).
