Scholarship details
What you'll receive
You'll receive:
- a scholarship valued at $5,000 for one year, paid in instalments of $2,500 each semester.
This scholarship is offered in Semester 1 each year.
Eligibility
You must be one of either:
- an Australian citizen (including dual citizens)
- a permanent resident of Australia
- a permanent humanitarian visa holder
- a New Zealand citizen.
You must also be:
- from a low-income background
- experiencing financial hardship
- enrolled in or applying for an undergraduate course.
This scholarship is not available to:
- single-unit study students - studying an individual unit at QUT, but not enrolled in a QUT course
- cross-institutional students - enrolled in a course at another university, but studying specific units at QUT and receiving credit towards your course at the other university
- QUT College students - studying one of the pathway programs offered by our international college , including foundation courses, university diplomas and English language courses.

What happens next?
We'll assess your application and score it against our selection criteria.
We allocate scholarships based on need. Students with the greatest need will receive the highest value scholarships. There are a limited number of scholarships available.
When will I know the outcome of my application?
Round 1
Apply and provide all documentation by 12 December 2022 and you may receive an outcome in late December 2022.
Round 2
Apply and provide all documentation by 6 February 2023 and we’ll let you know the outcome by the end of week 1 of classes in Semester 1 2023.
Round 3
Apply and provide all documentation by 27 February 2023 and we’ll let you know the outcome by the end of week 4 of classes in Semester 1 2023.
Conditions
You must be enrolled in the semester you applied for. Before we pay your scholarship, we will check your enrolment status to ensure you are still enrolled and eligible.
About the scholarship
The Learning Potential Fund provides support through scholarships and bursaries to students in financial need.
Kenneth England was a QUT alumnus from the 1970s and a long-term donor to the Learning Potential Fund. He left a gift to QUT in his will to provide five perpetual Learning Potential Fund scholarships each year to help students attain an education.
