What you'll receive

You'll receive a scholarship of up to $25,000 to contribute towards the total cost of tuition fees and travel to attend an international leadership event, course or experience. This is an ideal opportunity to expand and enrich management and leadership skills and interact with successful business leaders from around the world.

Previous recipients have been accepted into prestigious international courses such as:

  • Harvard Business School - Women's Leadership Forum
  • London Business School - Women in Leadership Executive course
  • Yale School of Management - Women in Leadership Program
  • Wharton Women's Executive Leadership: Business Strategies for Success
  • Stanford Executive Program in Women's Leadership.

Eligibility

You must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen
  • be from a rural or regional background, work in rural or regional Australia, or your work contributes to the rural or regional sectors
  • be a QUT Business School graduate
  • have 10 or more years' experience working in business
  • be currently working as a senior officer, executive, business unit leader, or business owner at a private company, public company, or nonprofit organisation
  • meet the entry requirements to attend the international women's leadership event of your choice and be accepted to the event.

What happens next?

Our panel will shortlist applications based on the selection criteria.

If you are shortlisted, we will invite you to attend an interview with the selection panel.

We will send you written confirmation of the outcome of your application whether or not you are successful.

About the scholarship

Dr. Laurie Cowled AM founded the Cowled Foundation following her husband's death in 2005 in an effort to foster business leadership and scholarship amongst young Australian women. The Laurie Cowled Scholarship for Women in Leadership aims to foster the education of rural and regional women to ensure that they can make an outstanding difference to the future of Australia.
