What you'll receive
You'll receive a scholarship valued at $30,150. The scholarship will be paid as a stipend in six instalments of $5,025 per semester for up to three years, following confirmation of your enrolment after the census date of each semester, commencing Semester 1, 2025.
Other benefits may include work placement with LCI including work experience and paid casual work.
Eligibility
To apply for this scholarship, you must be either:
- an Australian citizen
- an Australian permanent resident.
You must:
- be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
- enrol as a full-time student at QUT (36 credit points or more per semester)
- hold a course grade point average (GPA) of 4.5 or above
You must be entering your second year having completed 96 credit points and enrolled in one of the following courses in Semester 1, 2025:
- EN01 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Electrical)
- EN01 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Electrical and Aerospace)
- EN01 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical)
- EN01 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechatronics).
Double degree
Students enrolled in one of the following double degrees in Semester 1, 2025 are also eligible to apply for the scholarship:
- IX59 Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
- SE40 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Mathematics
- SE60 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Information Technology
- SE80 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Science
- EV09 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Master of Project Management.
Students will need to be entering the equivalent of their second year having completed 192 credit points of an engineering course in Semester 1, 2025, majoring in either:
- electrical
- electrical and aerospace
- mechanical
- mechatronics.
How to apply
You need to complete and submit the online application form by Tuesday 11 March 2025.
Your application should include the following attachments:
- a copy of your academic record from HiQ site
- a copy of your resume/curriculum vitae (CV)
- written response to the selection criteria.
What happens next?
The Faculty of Engineering will provide all eligible applicants to the sponsor, who will then shortlist and select the recipients.
QUT will notify all scholarship recipients.

The LCI Indigenous Engineering Scholarship reflects LCI Consultants' commitment to reconciliation by fostering meaningful engagement with Indigenous Australian students in engineering. The scholarship aims to support and empower Indigenous students, integrating their engineering education with a respect for First Nations cultural knowledge and connection to Country.
LCI believes that increasing Indigenous participation in electrical and mechanical engineering is essential for creating innovative solutions that are informed by Indigenous perspectives and values.
