What you'll receive
You'll receive:
- a scholarship valued at up to $10,000, paid over two years
- access to the Australian Institute of Sport's Career Practitioner Services, and opportunities to engage in national wellbeing programs and campaigns.
QUT Sport Scholarships have additional benefits, including:

Eligibility
To be considered for the QUT-AIS scholarship you must:
- meet academic and citizenship eligibility requirements
- be a commencing or continuing QUT student
- be a nationally categorised athlete, verified by your national sporting organisation (NSO)
- have no anti-doping rule violations or match fixing offences at any time
- be currently progressing and achieving in a funded and nationally recognised sport.
How to apply
Complete the online application and attach all relevant supporting documentation. We won't consider late applications.
You'll need to verify selection, results and achievement in your sporting CV. You must provide:
- a cover letter telling us about your background, reasons for application and future sporting goals
- an overview of events competed at in reverse chronological order (e.g. 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, etc.) including placing and results
- copies of your team selection letters (on official letterhead)
- references from your state or national sporting organisation.

Apply for a 2025 QUT Sport Scholarship
By submitting this application, you will be considered for all QUT Sport Scholarship offerings unless otherwise indicated in your application form.
What happens next?
Your application will initially be assessed by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) against the eligibility criteria. Only one application will be considered per athlete.
If your application is eligible it will then proceed to assessment against the selection criteria through a competitive process. This assessment will be undertaken by an assessment panel, which will comprise of representatives from the AIS and QUT.
The assessment panel will consider each eligible application on its merits based on how well it meets the selection criteria and how it compares to other applications.
Conditions
To keep your QUT-AIS scholarship, you must:
- maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 or higher in each semester
- represent QUT at a minimum of two targeted events or appearances each year, which may include:
- speaking at QUT Sport events
- contesting the National University Championships (if your sport is contested)
- participating in other campus events.
You can:
- take approved leave of absence from your course in accordance with the QUT Leave of Absence policy. Scholarship payments will be suspended during periods of leave
- concurrently receive a QUT Equity Scholarship, if eligible.
You can't:
- defer your scholarship offer. If you defer your course, you will need to reapply for the QUT-AIS scholarship the following year
